Honeybee

A honey bee is an insect.

It's body is divided into 3 parts. They are

1) Head
2) Thorax &
3) Abdomen.

Bee's head contains eyes, mouth, tongue and antenna.

It has 5 eyes. Among 2 eyes are compound and 3 are simple eyes.

The compound eyes helps to see the light, colour and directional light of the sun rays.

The simple eyes are arranged on head in a triangle shape. They are called ocelli. It helps to determine the amount of light in the environment.

It has 2 antennas. The antennas helps to smell. And some times it helps to trace the smell.

And it has jaws and tongue I.e proboscis for feeding and also helps to suck the nectar from the flowers.

Hummingbird

Hummingbirds are small and colourful birds with iridescent feathers.

Meaning:
Iridescent --- varying in colour when seen in different lights or from different angles.

They are called as hummingbirds because of the humming sound created by flapping their wings which is audible to human beings.

They flap their wings about 80 times per second.

Hummingbirds can fly up, down, right, left, forward, backward and even upside down. They can also hover in the mid-air.

They can use their feet only for perching (sit on a branch of a tree) but not for hopping or walking.

They have a specialised long and tapered bill to obtain nectar from the center of long tubular flowers.

Tapered --- Becoming gradually narrower

Hummingbirds eat flower nectar, tree sap, insects and pollen.

Tree Sap: (the watery solution of sugars, salts and minerals that circulate through the vascular system of a plant)

Pollen:

Hummingbirds have long tongue with which they lick their food.

The lifespan of hummingbirds are about 3-5 yrs. There are more than 300 different species of hummingbirds in the world. The smallest bird in the world is bee hummingbird. It is in Cuba.
