Tardigrade
It is the toughest animal on the Earth.
Other Names of Tardigrade:
Tardigrades are also known as "Water Bears", or "Moss Piglets".
The name Tardigrada means "slow steppers".
The name "water bear" comes from the way they walk.
Parts of the body:
It is an eight legged animal.
It has four to eight claws on each leg.
Tardigrades are about 0.5 mm (0.02 inches) long when there are fully grown.
The biggest adults may reach a body length of 1.5 mm and the smallest below 0.1 mm. They are short and plump.
It has claws to its legs.
Tradigrades Live:
It is an microscopic animal. It can be seen through low-power micro scope.
Tardigrades are found everywhere from mountaintops to the deep sea and mud volcanoes, from tropical rain forests to the Antarctic.
It can survive in the extreme conditions such as extreme temperatures, extreme pressures (both high and low), air deprivation, radiation, dehydration and starvation.
They can also survive in radiation, boiling liquids, massive amounts of pressure of up to six times the pressure of the deepest part of the ocean.
They can even survive in outer space.
Tardigrades are prevalent in mosses and lichens. The other places where Tardigrades found are dunes, beaches, soil, and marine or freshwater sediments.
Tardigrades Eat:
They eat plant cells, algae, and small invertebrates.
